What is BIA-ALCL?

BIA-ALCL is a cancer of the immune system. In many cases, BIA-ALCL is found near the breast implant, in the scar tissue, and surrounding fluid. However, it has also been found to spread throughout the body. BIA-ALCL has been treated successfully with surgery to remove the implant and the scar tissue surrounding the implant. Unfortunately, some patients may require treatment with chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy.
